Battery draining quickly on your payment terminal?

This article provides tips to extend battery life so you can go longer between charges.

Which mode is your terminal in?

Standalone

Bluetooth

Battery drain is mostly caused by:

  • The terminal's on-screen display
  • Network interactions (e.g. transactions).

To reduce your battery usage:

  • We recommend turning on power saving mode, which will cause the backlight of your terminal's display to turn off after a timeout period (the default timeout is 30 seconds).

To turn on power saving mode, follow these steps:

  1. From the READY screen, press the UP arrow to show the main menu
  2. Select “SETTINGS”
  3. Select “POWER MANAGEMENT”
  4. Select “POWER SAVING MODE”
  5. The “Status:” should be ON (if the “Status:” is OFF press the green key to change the setting to ON
  6. Select TIMEOUT
  7. We would recommend setting it to 30 seconds
  8. Press the red X to take you back to the Power Saving Menu
  9. Select BATTERY WARNING
  10. We would recommend setting it to 5 minutes
  11. Select AUTO OFF
  12. The “Status:” should be ON (if the “Status:” is OFF press the green key to change the setting to ON
  13. Select TIMEOUT
  14. We would recommend setting it to 60 minutes
  15. Keep pressing the red X to take you back to the READY screen
  16. You do not need to reboot the terminal for this setting to take effect.
